About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Account Specialist to manage scholarship payments, student account due‑diligence, and related financial processes for West Georgia Technical College. This full‑time position supports students and the college’s financial integrity while adhering to GAAP and governmental accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process write‑off files in Banner for State Accounting Office approval.
• Send delinquent student accounts to collection agencies.
• Transfer Banner data to the Bookstore for student aid charge‑outs each semester.
• Complete the 1098‑T filing process for students.
• Conduct quarterly petty‑cash audits.
• Analyze Banner data to apply scholarship payments accurately.
• Monitor and maintain student due‑diligence records using Banner reports.

Required profile

• Knowledge of accounts receivable and governmental accounting principles.
• Strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Understanding of college programs and student financial services.
• Ethical practice and ability to follow fiscal policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Banner financial system.
• Familiarity with GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
• Accounts receivable processing experience.
