Account Executive, SLED (West)

About the role

As an Account Executive at Cohere you will own the full sales cycle for State, Local and Higher Education (SLED) customers in the Western United States, driving adoption of Cohere’s AI platform to improve citizen outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Drive net‑new customer acquisition across State, Local and Higher Education organizations in the Western US.
• Develop and execute a territory sales plan, identifying partners and pathways to scale growth.
• Act as a trusted advisor, shaping AI solutions that deliver measurable value for public‑sector customers.
• Collaborate with distributors, VARs, system integrators and internal teams to accelerate adoption.
• Own the full sales cycle from discovery through proof‑of‑concept, procurement and deal closure.

Required profile

• 5+ years of direct public‑sector sales experience in the SLED market with a track record of $2M+ annual quota attainment.
• Deep knowledge of SLED procurement cycles, decision‑making processes and partner ecosystems.
• Established network of state and local agencies, prime contractors and industry associations.
• Experience selling SaaS, AI/ML or enterprise software solutions to government clients.
• High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to build a market from the ground up.
