Accessibility Coordinator

About the role

The Accessibility Coordinator supports undergraduate, graduate, MBA, and medical students at Georgetown University by ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. This role involves interpreting diagnostic documentation, guiding students through the evaluation process, and advocating for their needs across campus.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret psychological, psychiatric, and physical disability evaluations to determine reasonable accommodations.
• Engage students in an interactive process to finalize accommodation plans.
• Provide guidance to students seeking evaluations and explain documentation requirements.
• Advocate for students by facilitating the implementation of approved accommodations.
• Address faculty inquiries to ensure accommodations align with curricular goals without compromising academic standards.
• Collaborate with parents, academic counselors, deans, and Student Affairs administrators.
• Stay current on disability law, university policies, and emerging best practices to mitigate institutional risk.

Required profile

• Strong background working with students who have cognitive, psychological/psychiatric, and physical disabilities.
• Ability to interpret diagnostic documentation and apply ADA and Section 504 guidelines.
• Experience interacting sensitively with diverse student populations, including graduate and professional programs.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with faculty, staff, and families.
