Academic Support Associate

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking an Academic Support Associate to assist off‑site and distance‑learning students in the School of Business and Technology. The role supports students at the Universities at Shady Grove and the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown, with work locations in Rockville, MD and/or Hagerstown, MD.

Key responsibilities

• Guide students through enrollment processes, including adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses.
• Assist with graduation applications and ensure timely completion of degree requirements.
• Provide advice on course transferability and academic planning.
• Maintain accurate student records and support faculty in achieving on‑time graduations.
• Offer ongoing program guidance for both in‑person and distance‑learning students and faculty.
• Liaise with Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, and other campus offices to connect students with needed resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience in an administrative support role within a corporate or higher‑education environment.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and support diverse student needs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Data handling and the ability to derive insights from complex datasets.
