Academic Math Tutor (Part‑Time)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a motivated Academic Math Tutor to support students in a part‑time capacity. You will work directly with learners, helping them master mathematical concepts and develop effective study habits while contributing to the state’s educational mission.

Key responsibilities

• Develop tutoring materials, set goals, and create objectives tailored to student needs.
• Evaluate student progress and adjust instruction to ensure achievement of learning targets.
• Prepare and maintain required documentation and administrative reports.
• Provide one‑on‑one or group tutoring sessions in mathematics.
• Teach general learning strategies and foster a positive, encouraging environment.
• Report directly to the Coordinator of Tutoring and Mentoring.

Required profile

• Current technical college student with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum 3.0 GPA in the subject area, or an external applicant who can demonstrate equivalent ability and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution (preferred).
• Understanding of student learning strategies and proven teaching or tutoring experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Required skills

• Blackboard (experience preferred).
