Academic Counselor – Pre‑Nursing & Veteran Student Support

About the role

North Carolina Central University is seeking an Academic Counselor to guide pre‑nursing, nursing and veteran students through their academic journey. This full‑time, time‑limited position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within a historic HBCU community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent academic advisement to pre‑nursing, nursing and veteran students.
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Support Services and Senior Advisor to plan, coordinate and evaluate student support programs.
• Maintain accurate student records and monitor progress toward program requirements.
• Assist students with course selection, registration issues and career planning related to nursing pathways.
• Participate in outreach activities to promote nursing programs and veteran resources.

Required profile

• Experience advising pre‑nursing or nursing students, preferably in a higher‑education setting.
• Familiarity with veteran student services and related regulations.
• Strong knowledge of nursing curricula and academic policies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
