Academic Advisor – Student Success Initiative

About the role

The Academic Advisor for the Student Success Initiative supports student achievement and retention at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Working closely with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Success, the advisor helps develop and implement strategies that guide students toward timely graduation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in setting and tracking student success and retention goals for targeted populations.
• Implement student success initiatives and monitor related benchmarks.
• Provide academic advising, monitoring, and support to designated student groups, such as near‑completion students, developmental learners, student‑athletes, and other demographics.
• Develop advising resources, workshops, classroom presentations, and coordinate events that promote academic and personal success.
• Help students understand higher‑education expectations and create realistic academic plans.

Required profile

• Experience in academic advising or student support within higher education.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and track retention metrics.
• Strong communication skills for workshops and presentations.
• Collaboration skills to support the Assistant Vice Chancellor and campus initiatives.
