Academic Advisor

About the role

The Academic Advisor provides personalized guidance to incoming and first‑semester students at Augusta Technical College. Working closely with the Director of Enrollment Services, the advisor helps students navigate academic requirements, registration, and campus resources.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver academic advising and registration assistance to new students.
• Conduct virtual advising appointments using the college’s Virtual Advising Calendar.
• Monitor and respond to inquiries received through the Advising Center’s general email inbox.
• Guide students on transcript submission, degree planning, and institutional policies.
• Refer students to appropriate campus resources, including Financial Aid, to ensure enrollment requirements are met.
• Assist in planning and implementing Advising Center programs and events.
• Collaborate with Admissions, Student Support Services, academic deans, faculty, and other partners to support student retention and success.
• Maintain accurate student records and documentation in line with institutional policies.
• Stay current on academic programs, curriculum changes, and advising best practices.

Required profile

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Augusta Technical College academic programs, student services policies, and campus resources.
• Experience working with at‑risk and culturally diverse student populations.
• Attention to detail and strong decision‑making abilities.
