Academic Advisor I / II – Engineering Advising Services

About the role

The College of Engineering at Texas A&M University seeks an Academic Advisor I or II to support undergraduate engineering students. You will provide personalized academic guidance, help students navigate course selection, and contribute to retention initiatives within a collaborative campus environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver academic advising grounded in NACADA best practices, covering course registration, academic planning, career goal‑setting, and transition support.
• Conduct both group and individual advising sessions for current and prospective students.
• Monitor student academic progress, issue alerts, and implement intervention strategies to improve standing.
• Provide proactive referrals to campus resources and communicate timely reminders via email, texting, and social media.
• Assist with the design and execution of retention programs and student development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with state, university, and college policies, including FERPA confidentiality requirements.

Required profile
