About the role

Texas A&M University–Central Texas is seeking an Academic Advisor or Associate Academic Advisor to provide proactive, student‑centered holistic advising. The role supports student retention and success through educational planning, course selection, and resource navigation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic advising based on best practices and student development theories, including educational planning, course selection, and registration.
• Monitor academic progress and implement engagement and intervention strategies to support retention.
• Participate in outreach programs and communication initiatives to support enrollment goals.
• Refer students to institutional resources and assist with navigating campus processes.
• Maintain accurate student records and interaction notes using institutional tools.
• Stay informed about curriculum, course equivalencies, and career opportunities for assigned programs.
• Apply university, college, and program policies consistently and assist with course equivalency evaluations.
• Engage in professional development and contribute to campus committees and task forces.

Required profile

• Authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
• Demonstrated ability to provide holistic academic advising and support student development.
• Understanding of curriculum structures, course equivalencies, and related career pathways.
• Strong record‑keeping and documentation skills.
