2027 Future Talent Program - Chemical Biology Co-op

About the role

The 2027 Future Talent Program offers co-ops lasting up to 6 months, with one or more projects, in the Research & Development division. The Chemical Biology group (chemistry, proteomics and cell pharmacology) in Discovery Chemistry seeks a co-op who enjoys scientific research, has strong academic performance and communication skills, and can work on cross-functional teams. The co-op works in state-of-the-art science laboratories solving synthetic or biological problems relevant to drug discovery and development.

Key responsibilities

• Perform short, multi-step organic synthesis and chemical diversification to generate novel small molecule libraries
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and improve experiments
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, keeping detailed laboratory records
• Take part in lab meetings and present research findings

Required profile

• Currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology or a related field
• At least two years of study toward a PhD or equivalent by June 2027
• Available to work full-time for about 6 months starting mid-2027
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Consent from the principal investigator (PI); selected candidates must be ready to submit letters of recommendation, a research statement and transcripts

Preferred experience and skills

• Hands-on exposure to mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques
• Experience designing, optimizing and developing cell-based assays for phenotypic screening
• Understanding of biology concepts and how chemicals perturb biological systems
• Experience with liquid handlers

Salary range: $39,108 through $111,111. No relocation, visa sponsorship or travel required.
