Wiring Technician - $1K Signing Bonus

About the role

A supplier of automotive test facilities is hiring Bread Board Technicians in Dearborn, MI. The role suits people with some knowledge and experience in automotive, either on the job or as a hobby, who want to learn automotive testing from an industry leader. The work takes place inside the test facility, Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility to cover weekend testing.

Key responsibilities

• Install and assemble electrical instrumentation, modules, sensors, power supplies, load boxes and inverters
• Fabricate breadboards and build them to test-ready condition
• Troubleshoot breadboard issues and provide customer support
• Use oscilloscopes, meters and logic analyzers to diagnose electrical problems
• Check out electrical systems and verify them against specifications and drawings
• Design test fixtures, harnesses and test boxes to client specifications, and develop new fixtures and loads to simulate vehicle components
• Select electrical components to support electrical designs
• Maintain safety of yourself, colleagues and the lab

Required profile

• High school diploma required
• Hands-on automotive work experience, strong knowledge of automotive parts and subsystems, and electrical schematics
• Preferred: associate's degree in an electrical discipline and two years of relevant electrical experience
• Ability to lift parts and instruments up to 50 lbs, work in high-noise areas, and handle energized samples and rotating parts
• Dependable transportation to the site and ability to work weekends when needed

Required skills

• Proficient electrical automotive systems, schematics and soldering
• Knowledge of the vehicle CAN bus and other communication tools
• Custom cable and connector fabrication; CAD, VIZO, MATLAB and SolidWorks preferred
• Microsoft Office
