Wiring Harness Engineer – Spacecraft Electrical Systems

About the role

Cowboy Space Corp. is developing the infrastructure that powers and connects the orbital economy. We are seeking a Wiring Harness Engineer to design, prototype, and qualify electrical and optical harnesses for our low‑Earth‑orbit spacecraft platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end architecture of electrical and optical harnesses across flight and ground systems.
• Create detailed schematics, routing diagrams, 3D CAD models, and manufacturing drawings.
• Select space‑rated connectors, wire types, shielding materials, and other components while meeting strict mass, volume, and thermal limits.
• Define and execute comprehensive testing protocols, including vibration and thermal‑vacuum qualification.
• Lead prototype assembly, environmental testing, and qualification of harness hardware.
• Collaborate with mechanical and optical teams to ensure clearance, strain relief, and interface compatibility.
• Support integration and test campaigns on the manufacturing floor and during final spacecraft assembly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience designing and routing complex wire‑harness assemblies for aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability hardware.
• Hands‑on experience building, prototyping, and troubleshooting wire harnesses or mechanical assemblies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
• Experience using dedicated harness‑routing modules.
• Ability to produce manufacturing drawings, flat patterns, and engineering BOMs.
• Knowledge of space‑rated connectors, wire types, and shielding materials.
• Familiarity with vibration and thermal‑vacuum testing procedures.
