VP Engineering, CTO Track (Confidential)

About the role

The company, a Brydon Group portfolio SaaS business serving pediatric therapy practices, is seeking its first full‑time technology executive. As VP of Engineering on a clear CTO track, you will lead a complete modernization of a mission‑critical EHR and billing platform, driving AI‑enabled clinical features while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Define and socialize a phased technology modernization roadmap aligned with product, clinical, and business goals.
• Upgrade the legacy .NET services, retire outdated dependencies, and replace the embedded UI with a WCAG‑2.1 AA‑compliant front‑end (React, Vue or Angular).
• Lead the launch of companion mobile apps and evolve the architecture toward multi‑tenant, cloud‑native services.
• Own HIPAA Security Rule posture, drive SOC 2 Type II readiness, and embed security best practices across product decisions.
• Ship clinician‑facing AI features by integrating best‑in‑class models and vendors, while establishing a data and analytics platform.
• Mentor and grow the existing engineering team, recruit new talent, and represent technology to customers, partners, auditors, and the Board.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4 years leading teams at Director or Senior Manager level.
• Hands‑on expertise in the Microsoft .NET ecosystem and ability to contribute code immediately.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems, making strategic trade‑offs, and delivering at a pace the business can absorb.
• Background in healthcare IT, EHR/EMR, or HIPAA‑regulated environments.
• Proven track record shipping applied‑AI product features and using AI tools in daily development.
• Player/coach leadership style, expecting ~50% coding in year 1, shifting toward broader leadership.
• Business fluency in budgets, metrics, and communicating decisions to executives and the Board.
