Vice President, Head of Tax

About the role

Reporting to the Corporate Vice President of Finance Transformation, Tax & Treasury, the Vice President of Global Tax leads Applied Materials' overall tax strategy, covering compliance, planning and accounting for income taxes worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure efficient, timely, and complete processing of internal and external tax reporting while minimizing tax obligations.
• Re‑evaluate the global tax structure in response to international regulatory changes.
• Deliver strategic tax planning to achieve lower effective global tax rates and support operational initiatives.
• Negotiate audit settlements with taxing authorities and provide issue analysis.
• Stay connected to third‑party sources to incorporate new tax laws promptly.

Required profile

• Strong ethical judgment and ability to convey values across the tax team and business.
• 10+ years of tax leadership experience in a US‑based global manufacturing company with multi‑country operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA, JD, Master’s or other advanced education preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of international tax structures, IP, transfer pricing and US considerations such as GILTI, FIDDI, BEATS.
• Excellent analytic, technical tax, organizational and project‑management skills.
• Proven ability to manage talent, handle multiple demands with urgency, and communicate complex tax concepts clearly.
