About the role
The College of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University is seeking a Veterinary Technician II to join its Finance & Administration team. The role supports executives in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment while providing expert animal care within the veterinary teaching hospital.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily vivarium duties, including animal husbandry, health monitoring, and sanitation.
- Assist with surgical room protocols, anesthesia monitoring, and aseptic techniques.
- Prepare and manage forms for animal transfers, shipments, and inventory control.
- Collaborate with veterinarians on health issues and provide technical support for research projects.
- Operate and maintain cage washing machines, autoclaves, and other laboratory equipment.
Required profile
- Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or a related field.
- At least two years of technical experience in veterinary medicine.
- Strong animal handling, observation, and documentation skills.
Required skills
- Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and billing entry.
- Working knowledge of veterinary equipment used in a teaching hospital.
- Knowledge of high‑flow/low‑flow anesthesia and experience with injectable and inhalant anesthetics.
