About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a dedicated Veterans Field Service Officer (Level 2) to provide comprehensive support to veterans and their families. This position involves guiding clients through federal, state, and local benefit programs while representing their interests with various agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Interview veterans, dependents, and survivors to assess eligibility for compensation, pension, healthcare, education, and employment services.
- Assist with the completion and submission of complex application forms and required documentation.
- Research and interpret relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
- Advocate on behalf of veterans to resolve benefit issues and ensure timely claim processing.
- Provide up‑to‑date information on available resources, programs, and services.
- Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness of benefits within the veteran community.
- Maintain confidential case files and statistical reports.
- Collaborate with community organizations and other service providers.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED with at least two years of experience serving veterans, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of veterans’ benefits, laws, and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for outreach.
- Prior military service or direct experience with the military community is highly desirable.
- Ability to pass a background check.

- Proficiency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
