Vehicle Operator (CDL) - Day Shift

About the role

Waabi is building generative AI for the physical world, starting with autonomous trucks. The Texas road operations run both R&D testing and revenue freight from the Lancaster terminal, and the day shift is the core of that operation. Vehicle Operators manually drive Class 8 combination vehicles, supervise the Waabi Driver on public roadways and test tracks, and provide the experienced judgment needed to keep testing and commercial operations safe.

Key responsibilities

• Manually drive Class 8 commercial and passenger vehicles for mapping, shadow missions, yard moves, transports, drayage, scouting and repositioning.
• Operate autonomous Class 8 vehicles in supervised autonomy, staying ready to assume manual control at any moment.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, record detailed reports with photo documentation in Fleetio, and support the Enhanced Inspection Program.
• Maintain accurate Motive ELD records, manage Hours of Service compliance, and handle clock adjustments to meet load schedules.
• Provide clear, specific feedback on vehicle performance to engineers and fleet specialists.

Required profile

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a valid DOT medical certification.
• Minimum three years recent experience driving combination vehicles and an exemplary motor vehicle record.
• Ability to work flexible day‑shift hours, including extended shifts, weekends, holidays and occasional overnight travel.
• Strong collaboration skills and willingness to work closely with fleet specialists, operations and engineering teams.

Required skills

• Proficient use of electronic logging devices (ELD) and Hours of Service management.
• Experience with Fleetio inspection software and Motive ELD systems.
• Basic computer proficiency for data entry and tool usage.
