UAS Pilot – Autonomous Drone Operations for Wind Inspections

About the role

SkySpecs is seeking a skilled UAS Pilot to join its Operations Team in the United States. You will operate autonomous drone systems for wind turbine blade inspections, travel across the country, and ensure safe, efficient field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy to customer sites—solo or in small teams—to conduct on‑site wind turbine blade inspections using SkySpecs’ automated drone system.
• Communicate daily with SkySpecs and customers about project progress, logistics, technical troubleshooting, and product improvements.
• Charge, discharge, pack, and ship flight batteries and manage equipment logistics between sites.
• Perform in‑field technical troubleshooting of drones, sensors, telemetry radios, and video downlinks.

Required profile

• Current FAA Part 107 certified Remote Pilot with a valid driver’s license.
• Native English speaker or proficiency at CEFR C1/TOEFL >100.
• Eligible to work in the United States; residence preferably in Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA, Sioux Falls, SD, or Texas.
• Minimum 25 logged PIC hours on heavy‑lift (>7 kg MTOW) multi‑rotor platforms and 100 total UAS PIC hours.
• Hands‑on experience with UAS vehicle and sensor assembly, telemetry radios, R/C transmitters, and video downlinks.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to adapt quickly to changing plans.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and stand for 8+ hours; comfortable working outdoors in variable weather.
• Willingness to travel up to 80 % of the time, often in 2–4 week deployment cycles.
