About the role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other federal construction projects. This traveling position requires strict regulatory compliance, disciplined documentation, and the ability to manage complex, MEP‑intensive scopes within active medical or mission‑critical environments.
Key responsibilities
- Manage projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring quality control and schedule adherence.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, timelines, and budgets.
- Review, approve, and manage subcontractor proposals, scopes, and change orders.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily logs, reports, inventories, and records.
- Coordinate with leadership on scope, buy‑outs, and reserve allocations.
- Conduct billing reviews, audits, and invoicing.
- Monitor risks and proactively address schedule or budget issues.
- Provide 24/7 on‑call support and manage technician/subcontractor availability.
- Perform hands‑on tasks as needed to keep projects on track.
Required profile
- 7+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
- Proven experience on federal projects (VA, DoD, USACE, GSA preferred).
- Managed projects ranging from $5M to $50M with MEP‑heavy or infrastructure‑driven scopes.
- Experience working in occupied healthcare or other mission‑critical facilities.
- Familiarity with Davis‑Bacon prevailing‑wage requirements and federal documentation standards.
- Understanding of firm‑fixed‑price contract environments.
- Strong schedule management skills; Primavera or MS Project proficiency preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification minimum.
- Excellent subcontractor coordination and buy‑out capabilities.
- Detail‑oriented with disciplined documentation habits and ability to work independently in compliance‑heavy settings.
