Training Specialist – Shipyard

About the role

Saronic Technologies seeks a Training Specialist to manage the training calendar at its Franklin shipyard. You will lead onboarding, deliver hands‑on instruction for production trades, and ensure consistent, safety‑focused learning across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Own the shipyard training schedule, logistics, and materials, accelerating new‑hire productivity.
• Partner with leadership and subject‑matter experts to identify skill gaps and translate them into practical training.
• Adapt corporate content for site conditions and maintain consistent delivery standards.
• Apply adult‑learning principles, safety, and compliance requirements to all floor‑based trainings.
• Track completion, quality, and feedback in the LMS; report results and refine programs.
• Design and deliver on‑the‑job training for welders, fitters, and related trades, covering blueprint reading, layout, assembly, and safe tool use.
• Provide equipment and safety training, including Powered Industrial Truck certification and PPE reinforcement.
• Coach trainees in real time and coordinate workforce‑development partners for site visits and third‑party sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in aluminum welding, fitting, or a related shipbuilding/heavy‑manufacturing trade, in a training or mentoring role.
• Relevant certifications (manufacturing, mariner, welding, electrical) and U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Strong facilitation, writing, editing, project‑management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work directly with SMEs to define learning objectives and create accessible content.
