Training & Competency Lead

About the role

Airswift is looking for a Training & Competency Lead to support a major LNG client in Houston, Texas on a one‑year contract. The role will design, implement and manage training and competency assurance programmes for the client’s LNG operations, ensuring the workforce is safe, compliant and ready to perform.

Key responsibilities

• Support HSEQ and Process Safety compliance, including permit‑to‑work governance and safety case documentation.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary training team, assigning responsibilities and fostering a strong safety culture.
• Design, deliver and continuously improve site‑specific classroom, on‑the‑job and simulation‑based training programmes.
• Partner with operations, maintenance and safety teams to identify training needs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain training schedules, logistics and accurate records of competency assessments and certifications.
• Drive workforce readiness prior to project start‑up and standardise training practices across the site.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in training and competency development, preferably in LNG, oil & gas or the broader energy sector.
• Strong knowledge of competency assurance frameworks and technical training delivery.
• Experience in operational or asset‑based environments such as LNG plants, FPSOs or platforms.
• Familiarity with Process Safety Critical Competencies and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proven leadership ability to manage and develop high‑performing teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
