About the role
R+L Carriers is seeking Tire Mechanics for its Lakeland, FL Service Center. This full‑time position works a 4 p.m. – 2:30 a.m. shift, Monday through Friday, with one week of vacation after 90 days.
Key responsibilities
- Change and repair tires on Class 8 fleet vehicles.
- Mount and dismount truck and car tires.
- Operate the truck balancer on and off the vehicle.
- Perform service calls on the road using a service truck.
- Identify wheel type, proper fasteners and correctly tighten all wheels.
- Repair tractor‑trailer tires to company standards.
Required profile
- At least 1 year of commercial tire experience.
- Ability to lift up to 125 lb and stand on concrete for extended periods.
- Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and good driving record.
- Current operator’s license.
Required skills
- Mounting and dismounting truck and car tires.
- Operating a truck balancer.
- Using a 1‑inch air wrench and basic hand tools.
- Knowledge of DOT tire information and out‑of‑service criteria.
- Identifying retread versus new tires.
