Test Technician

About the role

CAF USA is seeking a Test Technician to join its Elmira Heights facility. The role involves performing advanced mechanical and electronic testing on transport system components, supporting both routine maintenance and complex troubleshooting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and interpret results from multimeters, oscilloscopes, megger/hi‑pot testers, and other test equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and air‑conditioning systems.
• Read and follow electrical schematics and test procedures.
• Complete test reports, record adjustments, and update job information accurately.
• Maintain a clean and organized testing area.
• Respond to customer calls and ensure assignments meet established time standards.
• Work rotational shift patterns (3 weeks first shift, 3 weeks second shift).

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of related electrical/mechanical experience, or an associate degree in electrical/mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, schematics, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work in a high‑pressure, start‑up environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
