Terminal Operations Manager

About the role

Lead the safe and efficient movement of cargo through a critical maritime gateway. As a Terminal Operations Manager you will oversee cargo handling, facility readiness, equipment maintenance, and workforce leadership while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This high‑visibility position influences terminal performance and supports a dynamic global supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, organize and control the safe loading and discharge of vessels.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and regular inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Collaborate with yard, maintenance, Freight Services and Equipment Control teams to manage cargo movement and marine operations.
• Interact with vessel operations and other terminals for scheduling as needed.
• Maintain relationships with union officials, stewards, employees and non‑union personnel, administering policies and collective bargaining agreements.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies and maintain facility certifications.
• Audit and update terminal plans, checklists, and operational procedures.
• Lead hiring, training, and performance evaluation of terminal personnel.
• Conduct customer tours and coordinate service requirements when requested.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience managing port or terminal operations.
• Strong knowledge of union relations and collective bargaining agreements.
• Familiarity with state and federal maritime regulations and certification processes.
• Ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams in a fast‑paced environment.
