Technical Program Manager, Avionics

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead the development of next‑generation avionics hardware for Cowboy Space Corp. You will own the end‑to‑end hardware lifecycle, from concept through qualification and launch integration, ensuring tight alignment with mission milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Translate high‑level avionics requirements into detailed hardware development plans and work packages.
• Build and maintain an integrated schedule covering schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, qualification, flight certification and launch readiness.
• Drive milestone execution using agile or phase‑gated methodologies, monitor dependencies and mitigate critical‑path risks.
• Lead cross‑functional teams across hardware engineering, embedded software, FPGA, supply chain, manufacturing, integration & test and quality.
• Facilitate DFM, DFA and DFT reviews and support production test development.
• Manage program risks, material shortages, engineering change orders and configuration control.
• Partner with vendors for PCB fabrication, component procurement, prototype builds and transition to production.
• Own product lifecycle management, including BOMs and approved manufacturer lists.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing complex, flight‑critical hardware programs in aerospace or defense.
• Strong ability to bridge engineering realities with schedule constraints and mission goals.
• Excellent cross‑functional leadership and communication skills.

Required skills

• Jira or similar project‑tracking tools.
• PCB schematic capture and layout.
• Hardware prototyping and qualification processes.
• Design for Manufacturing, Assembly and Test (DFM/DFA/DFT).
• Risk management and engineering change management.
• Supply chain and vendor management.
• Product lifecycle management (PLM) and BOM control.
• Embedded software integration and FPGA development.
