Teaching Assistant Professor – Elementary STEM Education

About the role

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Arkansas seeks a nine‑month Teaching Assistant Professor to lead elementary STEM education. The position begins August 16, 2027 and supports both undergraduate and graduate programs, including the STEM concentration in the Masters of Arts in Teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four courses per semester at undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on integrated STEM methods, elementary math, engineering, and technology.
• Design and facilitate highly interactive, project‑based coursework that develops students' technical competencies.
• Mentor and advise pre‑service teachers, supporting their field experiences and professional growth.
• Contribute to curriculum development aligned with state and national STEM standards and help expand the elementary education program.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, Integrated STEM Education, or a closely related field by the start date.
• Evidence of highly effective university‑level teaching in elementary integrated STEM, mathematics, or engineering education.
• Demonstrated service to the program, department, or profession related to elementary STEM education.
• Preferred experience designing hands‑on, project‑based learning environments and using tools such as 3D modeling, fabrication technologies, or makerspace resources.
