About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Systems Engineer IV to lead the design and integration of sensor‑based systems for semiconductor equipment. The role focuses on creating scalable architectures, enabling predictive maintenance, and ensuring reliable operation across hardware and software interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement end‑to‑end system architectures for sensor integration across equipment and subsystems.
• Design scalable data pipelines and connectivity using industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, fieldbus, serial).
• Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to evaluate, deploy, and validate new sensing technologies.
• Translate system requirements into predictive‑maintenance capabilities, partnering with software and data‑science teams.
• Lead moderate‑scope projects, communicate technical concepts, and drive cross‑functional innovation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or related field.
• 6–10+ years of experience in complex system integration within semiconductor or industrial equipment.
• Proven ability to define requirements, validate sensor performance, and support reliability engineering.

Required skills

• Sensor technologies (pressure, temperature, flow, vibration, electrical signals).
• Data acquisition systems and signal conditioning.
• Industrial communication protocols (Ethernet‑based, fieldbus, serial).
• System architecture and integration.
• Predictive maintenance, diagnostics, and reliability engineering concepts.
