Surveyor - Ambulatory Care RN

About the role

The Ambulatory Care Surveyor – RN works remotely from anywhere in the United States while traveling nationwide to evaluate ambulatory health‑care organizations. The role involves assessing compliance with Joint Commission standards and providing actionable feedback to improve quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site surveys of ambulatory organizations across the United States.
• Engage staff in interactive dialogues to identify compliance gaps.
• Prepare detailed management reports linking standards deficiencies to system vulnerabilities.
• Communicate findings constructively to organizational leadership.
• Participate in additional Joint Commission activities as assigned.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a Master’s degree from an approved nursing school.
• Current RN licensure at time of hire.
• Minimum 5 years experience in an ambulatory care setting; at least 3 years direct clinical experience and 2 years in management or quality improvement.
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission accreditation process.
• CPHQ certification required at hire or attainable by 12/31/2028.
• Ability to travel 100 % of work time, lift 25 lb, climb stairs, and work in infectious‑disease environments.
• Experience in culturally diverse settings preferred.

Required skills

• CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality).
• Proficiency with laptop/tablet and PC for data collection and reporting.
• Strong interview and report‑writing abilities.
