Surgical Technician - L&D

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit. This full‑time, regular position provides essential assistance in the operating room, ensuring instruments and supplies are prepared and managed efficiently for obstetric surgeries.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and equipment for L&D procedures.
• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operative cases, maintaining a sterile field.
• Monitor inventory of surgical supplies and request reorders as needed.
• Document instrument counts and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Participate in equipment maintenance and quality‑control activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a surgical technology program preferred.
• Current certification or eligibility for certification as a Surgical Technologist.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to work rotating shifts in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
