Supplier Quality Engineer

About the role

The Supplier Quality Engineer acts as the primary point of contact between the company and suppliers regarding the quality of purchased components, sub‑assemblies and assemblies. Working closely with Global Sourcing and Design Engineering, the role ensures that quality requirements are clearly communicated, understood and implemented at supplier sites.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate company quality requirements to suppliers and serve as the main contact for quality issues.
• Support new supplier and new product qualification, including on‑site audits of systems, processes and products.
• Develop test and inspection criteria for field returns, issue Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), and drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collect data and produce KPI reports (e.g., COQ, PPM) to track supplier quality trends.
• Coordinate containment and resolution of product quarantines and support mill/material test report systems.
• Prepare reports and presentations for internal teams and suppliers.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and national/international standards.
• Experience with quality system auditing and knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar standards.
• Willingness to travel 10‑20% for supplier evaluations and audits.

Required skills

• ISO 9001 quality system knowledge.
• PPAP, SPC, Fishbone, Six Sigma, and other quality tools.
• Statistical analysis and root‑cause investigation techniques.
• KPI reporting, Cost of Quality (COQ) and Parts‑Per‑Million (PPM) metrics.
• Quality auditing methods and familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, forging, metal stamping, assembly and test.
