Supervisory Investigator – Whistleblower Protection Program

About the role

The Supervisory Investigator leads the Whistleblower Protection Program within the Department of Labor, ensuring investigations are conducted fairly and uniformly. This senior position provides strategic oversight, policy development, and expert guidance to staff nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with Office and Assistant Directors to implement and revise the Whistleblower Protection Program.
• Develop and update policies governing whistleblower statutes delegated to the program.
• Oversee OSHA whistleblower complaint investigations, ensuring compliance with established standards.
• Provide expert technical advice to OSHA staff at national and regional levels.
• Contribute to public outreach programs informing stakeholders about agency policies and objectives.
• Direct preparation of comments and position papers on inter‑agency policy proposals affecting whistleblower protection.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship and minimum age of 16 years.
• 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS‑14 level, including managing investigative or regulatory compliance programs.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal or regulatory issues and develop actionable recommendations.
• Experience developing, implementing, or evaluating enforcement policies and program plans.
• Proven supervisory experience: directing work, setting priorities, evaluating results, and resolving complex personnel or programmatic issues.
• Ability to obtain required security clearance and meet financial disclosure requirements.
