About the role

First Quantum Minerals is seeking a proactive leader to oversee the procurement and supply activities that support the Cobre Panamá operation. The role ensures timely and cost‑effective acquisition of goods and services, both locally and internationally, while upholding ethical standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, train and develop the Procurement team, including participation in recruitment and performance evaluation of buyers.
• Oversee local and international purchasing processes, conduct commercial proposal analysis, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate strategic contracts.
• Develop and monitor procurement KPIs, generate reports and analyses to aid decision‑making.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and optimise the supplier base, prioritising regional and local vendors.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, the commercial team and key suppliers.
• Ensure proper use of procurement management and documentation systems.
• Guarantee ethical and procedural compliance throughout the entire procurement cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in mining or heavy industry procurement.
• Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) is an advantage.
• Proven track record in developing commercial strategies, supplier negotiations and business recommendations.
• Experience supervising both local and international purchasing activities.
• Strong knowledge of the local supplier market.
• Advanced conversational English.
