About the role
The Supervising Attorney will join a team of public‑interest lawyers to directly impact immigrant children seeking safety and security. This full‑time position is based in Safe Passage Project’s New York City office.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of attorneys and a paralegal representing minors in removal proceedings before EOIR, the Asylum Office, USCIS, and Family Courts.
- Directly represent minors and mentor pro bono attorneys handling similar cases.
- Collaborate with legal management to analyze and create effective legal strategies.
- Provide detailed reporting and statistics on each supervised, mentored, and directly represented case.
- Prepare trainings and materials for Safe Passage Project’s internal and external training sessions.
Required profile
- J.D. degree and admission to the New York State Bar.
- Four or more years of immigration law experience.
- Experience managing volunteer engagement; law‑firm volunteers a plus.
- Strong database and computer skills, with Salesforce experience preferred.
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional organizational, time‑management, and record‑keeping skills.
- High discretion in handling confidential information.
- Adaptability and proactive problem‑solving in a fast‑paced environment.
- Collaboration spirit and willingness to apply trauma‑centered practices.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.

- Competitive salary ranging from $115,000 to $125,000 annually.
- Hybrid work environment: one day per week in the office and up to four weeks of remote work annually.
