Summer Internship – Retrofit Services & Maintenance Engineering

About the role

Airbus is seeking summer interns to join the Retrofit Services & Maintenance Engineering team in Mobile, Alabama. Interns will support design, analysis and certification activities for aircraft cabin and system modifications, working with industry‑standard CAD and analysis tools.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in engineering improvement projects such as automation, digitalization, API/web‑application development and data analytics.
• Generate engineering reports, templates and weekly status updates to support ongoing retrofit projects.
• Organise engineering data, assist in routing documents for review and consolidate information for future reference.
• Attend meetings, record minutes and coordinate with internal or external customers.
• Support service bulletin review, develop presentation material and assist with project management tasks.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited full‑time 4‑year engineering degree (Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Civil, Systems, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science); sophomore level or higher, or a master’s program.
• Authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
• Experience leading engineering projects or prior internship/research experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Programming basics in Python or Apps Script.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or CATIA.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office suites.
