Substitute Bus Driver #3

About the role

The Substitute Bus Driver #3 is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, and other authorized locations. This position operates within designated routes, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and maintaining a disciplined environment on the bus.

Key responsibilities

• Obey all traffic laws and mandatory school bus safety regulations.
• Maintain discipline on the bus and report any issues to the appropriate authority.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, report mechanical defects, and perform routine maintenance such as fueling and tire checks.
• Operate wheelchair‑accessible buses, load and secure wheelchairs, and ensure safe transport for students with mobility needs.
• Transport students and teachers on field trips, planning routes and stops as required.
• Complete mileage, passenger count, and incident reports; attend safety and training meetings.
• Enforce policies prohibiting smoking and eating on the bus and keep the vehicle clean.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license and a bus driver’s license.
• Ability to follow Mississippi Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code related to student transportation.
• Strong attention to safety, punctuality, and vehicle upkeep.
• Capability to manage student behavior and communicate effectively with school staff.
