Structures Engineer – Autonomous Maritime Systems

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Structures Engineer to lead the structural design of its autonomous surface vessels (ASVs). You will own the design from concept through prototyping and production, ensuring the integrity and reliability of maritime platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Own structural design of ASV systems and subsystems from concept to production.
• Maintain design gates (PDR, CDR) and schedules for hardware.
• Prepare and conduct design reviews for structural systems.
• Support prototyping, build of new ASV platforms, and variant development.
• Assist procurement, supplier selection, and hardware sourcing.
• Create 3D models (Siemens NX preferred or SolidWorks) and 2D drawings compliant with ASME Y14.5.
• Perform preliminary sizing using hand calculations and engineering principles.
• Collaborate with hardware, product development, and production teams to optimize designs.
• Generate technical reports and documentation for internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in structural analysis, hand calculations, and finite element analysis.
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics and materials science.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Required skills

• Siemens NX (preferred) or SolidWorks for 3D modeling.
• ASME Y14.5 standards for 2D drawings.
• Femap (preferred) or ANSYS for finite element analysis.
• Hand calculation techniques for structural sizing.
• Structural analysis and mechanics.
