Sterile Processing Technician – Orthopaedic & Spine Hospital

About the role

The Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital (TOSH) at UAMS is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join its central sterile services department. In this position you will ensure that surgical instruments and equipment are safely decontaminated, assembled, and ready for use in a fast‑paced, patient‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and document surgical instruments and devices after use.
• Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and sterilization according to established protocols.
• Package and label sterile sets for distribution to operating rooms and procedural areas.
• Maintain and troubleshoot sterilization equipment, ensuring compliance with infection‑control standards.
• Track inventory, manage stock levels, and report any equipment issues.
• Collaborate with peri‑operative staff to address urgent instrument needs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification (CST, CSH, or equivalent) preferred.
• Prior experience in a sterile processing or central service environment is desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict aseptic techniques.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams.
