Sterile Processing Technician – Full‑time Evenings (Weekends/Holidays)

About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician ensures that cleaned, prepared, and sterilized equipment and supplies are available for surgical procedures. This full‑time evening position supports clinical and satellite operations, as well as operative suites, at the Jeff. Hwy. location in New Orleans.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, clean, disinfect, inspect, package, and store reusable medical instruments and equipment.
• Perform High Level Disinfection, Pre‑Vacuum, Gravity Displacement, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma sterilization techniques according to manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain accurate record‑keeping, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Provide necessary supplies for surgical procedures and ensure timely availability of instrument trays.
• Adapt communication and service approach to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 2 years of sterile processing experience or graduation from an accredited sterile processing or surgical technology program.
• Preferred certifications: CRCST, IAHCSMM, CSPDT, CBSPD, or CFER.

Required skills

• Clinical knowledge of sterile processing and instrument care.
• Proficiency with computer systems, software, and web‑based applications.
• Ability to perform High Level Disinfection and various sterilization techniques (Pre‑Vacuum, Gravity Displacement, Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma).
