Staff Software Engineer, Web Platform

About the role

Anthropic is building Claude.ai, a consumer AI product across web, mobile and desktop. The Web Platform team provides the shared infrastructure, components, APIs and tooling that enable all product teams to ship quickly and reliably. As a Staff Software Engineer you will design and deliver the platform foundations that power these experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Improve developer velocity by streamlining build, deploy and testing pipelines.
• Identify and resolve latency, reliability and observability issues across the platform.
• Design and implement shared UI components, libraries and abstractions for web and mobile products.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to understand needs, unblock blockers and prioritize platform investments.
• Maintain and evolve documentation and tooling to make the platform approachable for new engineers.

Required profile

• Strong practical experience with modern web technologies such as React and TypeScript.
• Proven track record of building tools that enhance developer productivity.
• Solid instincts for reliability, observability and performance in production systems.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, collaborative environments and work across cross‑functional partners.
• Willingness to take on tasks beyond the immediate job description.
