Staff Software Engineer, Privacy Engineering

About the role

The Product Integrity organization is building security and privacy protections for vehicles and their cloud infrastructure. As a Staff Software Engineer in Privacy Engineering, you will shape the roadmap for privacy services, ensuring vehicle owners' data is protected while complying with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Build, support, and maintain in‑house privacy‑critical services.
• Define and enforce privacy standards and best‑practice implementations.
• Drive specification and rollout of new privacy services.
• Mitigate vulnerabilities reported by internal or external parties.
• Implement data‑protection controls to meet regulatory and industry requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 6 years of experience developing production‑grade software.
• Proven experience designing, testing, deploying, and maintaining large‑scale, high‑availability distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of modern cryptography, cloud‑native development, and privacy/security best practices.
• Deep knowledge of privacy‑enhancing technologies, data classification, or privacy‑by‑design principles.
• Extensive cross‑functional collaboration with embedded, cloud, and data engineering teams.
