Staff Software Engineer, iOS

About the role

Sandbar is an interface company based in New York City that builds software, machine‑learning and hardware products for leading tech firms. The company’s first product, Stream, is a private voice ring and conversational interface that will ship in Summer ’26. As a Staff iOS Engineer you will help build the Stream iOS app, which spans device‑cloud connectivity, on‑device processing, UI/UX and more.

Key responsibilities

• Own iOS product delivery, including architecture in Swift, metrics‑driven optimisation, testing and releases.
• Collaborate with backend services (WebSocket) and device integrations (BLE) to enable low‑latency, always‑available human‑computer interactions.
• Work with product, design and GTM teams to ship releases, gather insights, iterate and improve the end‑user experience.

Required profile

• 8+ years building and shipping interactive mobile iOS applications.
• Strong proficiency in Swift and complex interactive app development.
• Deep experience with OS‑level integrations such as media control or on‑device machine learning.
• Experience with Python‑based servers and the iOS Bluetooth stack is a plus.
• Excellent interdisciplinary communication and ownership, comfortable with ambiguity.
• Passion for end‑user delight and human‑computer interfaces.
