Staff Nurse – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

About the role

The Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue seeks a Staff Nurse to deliver professional nursing care under supervision. You will support patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Assess physical and psycho‑social signs and symptoms of patients in the PACU.
• Implement therapeutic measures and develop individualized nursing regimens.
• Maintain accurate nursing care plans, progress notes, and documentation.
• Interpret and report patient responses to the interdisciplinary health team.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and allied nursing personnel to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Assign and supervise tasks performed by allied nursing staff.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to support allied personnel.
• Participate in defining, implementing, and interpreting standards of nursing practice and attend departmental conferences.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license, able to work under supervision in a hospital setting.
• Strong assessment skills for physical and psychosocial patient needs.
• Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary team members.
• Willingness to mentor and guide allied nursing staff.
