About the role

The Staff Nurse (D75) provides professional nursing services to public school students with disabilities, delivering direct care and supporting health programs within the classroom and home environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized treatment programs for students requiring health services.
• Provide direct health care, emergency first‑aid, and coordinate school‑based health activities.
• Review medical records, maintain computerized and manual documentation, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary and parent conferences, offering recommendations for health programs.
• Serve as a preceptor for nursing students from local colleges and universities.
• Consult with teaching staff and primary‑care facilities to ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with parents, guardians, and staff.
• Knowledge of health‑care agencies and services in the New York metropolitan area.
• Strong organization and records‑management abilities.
