Staff Database Engineer

About the role

TensorWave is looking for a Staff Database Engineer to shape the architecture and reliability of its core data platforms. You will own the design, operation, and evolution of critical PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Percona systems that power internal services, infrastructure tools, and future control‑plane components.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own database architecture for platform services, including PostgreSQL‑backed internal tools, Slurm accounting databases, NetBox source‑of‑truth systems, and custom automation services.
• Define and enforce standards for high availability, replication, failover, backup, point‑in‑time recovery, capacity planning, and security.
• Operate and improve production environments across PostgreSQL, MySQL, Percona, handling provisioning, upgrades, performance tuning, and disaster‑recovery testing.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for database incidents and translate findings into durable engineering improvements.
• Serve as senior owner for infrastructure‑adjacent platforms such as SlurmDBD and NetBox, improving schema design, indexing, query performance, and retention strategies.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience designing, operating, and scaling relational databases in production.
• Strong engineering leadership with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
• Track record of building reliable, observable, and automated database services.
