Staff Counsel – Oncology Research

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Staff Counsel to provide legal support for its oncology research operations. The role involves advising internal clients on legal, regulatory, and risk matters within a large healthcare system. You will work closely with the General Counsel and other attorneys to ensure compliance and protect the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver legal services to internal clients as a member of the legal department.
• Provide transactional support, including drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts.
• Conduct legal research, training, and general corporate legal support as assigned.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks across the organization.
• Interact with and direct outside counsel and administrative staff.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Current admission to practice law in the state of practice or active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, with commitment to obtain required bar membership.
• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment and work a flexible schedule.
