Staff Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join fomo‑labs in New York City. You will help build and scale the core infrastructure of our crypto trading app, working across the full stack and collaborating closely with a small, crypto‑native engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain micro‑services written in TypeScript, Go and Rust that power trade execution, on‑chain data ingestion, portfolio tracking and social recommendation engines.
• Scale and optimise infrastructure to support high‑throughput trading and social networking workloads.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver end‑to‑end features and occasionally contribute to React codebases.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and performance tuning across the platform.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably at senior or staff level.
• Hands‑on experience building crypto‑related systems, with knowledge of Solana or EVM ecosystems.
• Comfortable working autonomously, defining technical plans and executing them end‑to‑end.
• Personal experience trading crypto assets is a plus.
