About the role

The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship offers undergraduate sophomores a ten‑week, full‑time experience within the Research & Statistics Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Interns join a cohort, receive mentorship, and contribute to policy‑oriented research that supports monetary policy, banking supervision, and payments systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist economists and research associates in analyzing current public‑policy issues and events.
• Support long‑term, academically oriented research projects.
• Conduct econometric analyses for internal Bank publications and academic journals.

Required profile

• Enrolled undergraduate sophomore with a strong academic record.
• Demonstrated interest in economics, public policy, mathematics, or statistics.
• Ability to produce concise, articulate economic analysis in written and verbal form.
