About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Chalk’s data platform team in New York. You will work on building high‑performance query planning and execution engines using Rust, C++ and Python, with full ownership and autonomy.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with Chalk’s co‑founders
- Write C++, Python and Rust code
- Design, implement, ship, and maintain significant components of the query planning and execution engine
- Iterate rapidly to improve Chalk’s platform in response to customer needs
Required profile
- 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
- Strong computer‑science fundamentals
- Comfortable building and maintaining real systems
- Ability to work autonomously and make pragmatic trade‑offs
- Strong communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
