Software Engineer II – Android

About the role

Join Duolingo’s Subscriber Conversion team to build and improve the Android experiences that turn learners into subscribers. You will work on high‑traffic surfaces, experiment with A/B tests, and help shape the product roadmap while collaborating with design and backend engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams on end‑to‑end software projects.
• Develop, release, and maintain native Android features using Kotlin.
• Mentor junior engineers and help set technical direction for the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Professional experience developing Android applications in Kotlin.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Strong self‑direction, a desire to learn new techniques, and a willingness to mentor others.
• Experience designing clean, maintainable APIs and writing unit‑tested, testable code.
